November 12: lookin' good!

The siding is almost done now.
It is neat to go inside the room-
it feels a little more real now.:)

The kids are having fun running, jumping,
and being altogether noisy in the big empty room!

November 11: siding continues

More siding is up!

November 10: today's work

The new room is now mostly wrapped, and they have started the siding.
And, look!, they've put in some windows, too!

November 10: yesterday's work

This morning before the workers arrived,
I took pictures of yesterday's progress.
Our box is no longer just a skeleton- it has skin!

November 9: night-time exploration

We did a little after-the-workers-had-left evening exploration of the attic room.
Access right now is through a locking temporary door
in what was once a bedroom...
but is now an empty echo room.;-)

November 8: truss time

Today, the roof trusses were installed and delivered via crane.
Pretty cool stuff!

November 2: framing begins

Today Johnny worked all day on framing the floor! He did a really nice job.:-)

October 27: demolition begins

We were headed out the door just before 8am, when the construction guys were unloading. Demolition work was to begin.

"Uh, do you need access into the house? Like, now?"
*big grin*
"Okay, just give me a few minutes to get my kids to school... and stuff."

I thought I had another day, so I wasn't exactly ready. But I scrambled to clear access to the dining room window and to the bay window next to the kitchen. It was a three-minute endeavor, and pride was set aside... surely they've encountered clutter before, right?:-)

October 27: outdoor facilities

I told the kids they were hogging the bathrooms
so we had to install a front-yard toilet.
We came home to find that it had been delivered
while the four biggies were at school
and the three littles and I were shopping.

October 26: pouring the concrete

We left for school one afternoon to find a big truck pulling into our front yard...

...and came home to find a concrete truck hooked up to it.

It was pretty crazy seeing how they got the concrete to the backyard!

October 22: preparing for concrete

With hammers pounding on rebar, it was noisy work
when the concrete forms were being built.
But my house is already a zoo, so I didn't particularly notice.;-)

October 21: excavation

The kids were glued to the windows, watching the guy haul out all that dirt!
We had a good view from the upstairs' bedrooms.

taking down the deck

The boys worked on removing the deck before the dig people came...

taking out the grass

less mowing :-)
